Lucy Llewellyn launched Head & Heart at the London Book Fair in 2014, armed with an email address and a batch of business cards. We’ve since worked with many trade and academic publishers, indie authors, and creative organisations on over 600 bespoke publishing projects.
We’re a tight-knit team of freelancers, used to working together to provide a practical, personal, and professional service. We understand the importance of clear, concise communication and this drives the way we work at every level. We love collaborating with creative, passionate people and offer a friendly and flexible approach.

Meet the Team
Lucy | Head & Heart Founder
Working in various editorial, design, and production roles in publishing since 2004, Lucy brings a unique perspective, skill set, and network of contacts to Head & Heart. Career highlights include editing books by Niall Griffiths and Stevie Davies; working with artist Shimon Attie on his book in New York; a stint as in-house Production Manager on Black Dog’s prestigious art & design list; and attending books fairs around the world.
Aimee | Production and Social Media
Aimee has worked with a variety of boutique and university publishers across the South West in marketing, design, editorial and project management. Having recently gained a distinction in MA Publishing, she now works with Head & Heart on typesetting, eBook production, and design. Aimee also manages our admin and social media, and is a board member of the Society of Young Publishers.
Danny | Typesetting and Cover Design
Danny has worked in-house with Nosy Crow and Duckworth Publishers, and as a freelancer with various other clients. Danny works on our typesetting, eBook production, and artworking for fiction, children’s books, and complex academic titles. Danny recently completed his Masters in Publishing, which included a dissertation on typography.
Claire | Typesetting and eBooks
Claire is our polymathic publishing chameleon – there’s not much in editorial or production that Claire can’t turn her hand to. She recently edited and launched a gothic horror anthology for Parthian, completed a PhD in Creative Writing, and has just started writing a novel about a Victorian illusionist.
Debbie | Typesetting
Debbie has a background in Art & Design and Computer Science. She enjoys combining her knowledge in both areas and applying it to her work. She is also an illustrator and comic artist, has recently published a hugely successful illustrated book of short comics, and is working on her second book.
