The Medusa Files

for author Andrew Lowe

Services included: Cover design, typesetting, eBook production, promotional material design

The journey: Andrew had self-published one novel already through a large publishing services company, but for the sequel The Medusa Files (a Korea-based spy thriller) he wanted to work with a smaller team who would offer a more personalised service, so he came to us.

Andrew had found a painting online that he wanted to use for the front cover, so we helped him track down the artist and buy the rights, and worked with the image to create full jacket designs – extending the background of the painting, adding in the Korean flag, and using a heavy, thriller-esque font for the text. We provided print-ready files for paperback editions (print-on-demand with CreateSpace and IngramSpark), and a dust-jacketed hardback edition (printed by a local printer with a dark red cloth to the cover, and gold foil to the spine).

Once we’d finished the typesetting and eBook production, and Andrew had seen the proof copies, he was so pleased with the end results that he decided to completely repackage his first book to match The Medusa Files. So, we worked with him to design and produce new eBook, paperback and hardback editions of that too, in time for a wonderful Korean-themed launch party he’d organised at Foyles Charing Cross. We also provided Andrew with on-brand designs for launch invitations, business cards, social media banners, and flyers.

Andrew says: ‘Head & Heart have been superb. The work and attention to fine detail Lucy and her team brought to my project was absolutely first class. Having worked with previous organisations in the industry, I can honestly say I have struck gold here. A very happy and much satisfied customer.’
